Greetings and welcome to the Spring Edition of the Developer Newsletter. I am sure that you are as excited as I am that Spring has finally arrived. With Spring comes a refreshed time of the year with renewed excitement, enthusiasm and anticipation…and here at Microsoft we have some great updates to share with you on the latest products and technology to help you leverage that enthusiasm while developing and deploying enterprise level solutions.

This Spring Edition includes a series of new articles on Regulatory Compliance, using alerts in the Banking industry, showing Windows Vista in action in Financial Services, and some great new code snippets for Visual Studio 2005. Also we are please to announce a great new Security guide known as "The Developer Highway Code". In addition we are very pleased to announce the new Windows Live Developer Center. You’ll also find links to the latest white paper for building connected systems in Financial Services and to four new case studies highlighting the use of the Microsoft products and technologies to enable priority solution scenarios in the Banking, Capital Markets, and Insurance industries. I would also like to encourage you to take a moment to view the “At the Whiteboard” series featuring Asli Bilgin of Microsoft. I think you’ll see great returns from this short investment of time.

Finally, the 4th Annual Financial Services Developer Conference in late April will be the best ever (I am sure you expected me to say that). We have 34 sessions scheduled that will be hosted by industry experts, and Frank Schiler, VP and Distinguished Analyst of the Gartner Group, will give a keynote address focused on "Architecting the Financial Institution of the Future." The response to the 2006 Developers Conference has been overwhelming and I am pleased to share that the event has *sold out*. For those of you that cannot attend this years event please watch the Developer Connection site for posting of presentations, videos, and other key resources.

Enjoy the spring and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Developers Conference.

Thanks,

Michael K Wons
